Husband and wife team
- Here at Tinker Shop we have combined our passion of rocks and gems, and all things created with resin. For over 30 years we have been collecting all kinds, shapes and sizes of agates, jasper and petrified wood (and sometimes just really pretty rocks). We have spent many day trips, weekends and family vacations in the California desert searching for just one more rock. Climbing one more hill, through one more valley, backing into another cactus, avoiding another rattle snake, covered in sweat, sand, and sometimes blood, just to find that one more rock. We have 3 sons that we have taken on these trips over the years and some of these descriptions are from their memories. My son's may have a biased view due to the fact that they were usually the ones who got to carry the heavy bags full of rocks, following their dad all over the hot desert.
Now what do we do with all of these rocks?
- In the summer of 2005 we went to our first Gem and Mineral show in Southern California. We were hooked! We joined the local rock club and learned how to slab our rocks, cut them into shapes, then grind, sand and polish them creating beautiful cabochons. After moving to Arkansas in 2007 we were unable to find a local rock club. We have since then created our own shop. We now have 2 slab saws, 4 cabbing machines, 2 carving stations and 2 silversmithing stations. We have also added space to work with the wood and resin items. Our love of rocks turned into a hobby and now a business, the Tinker Shop. We hope you our customers will enjoy our store as much as we have enjoyed the journey creating it.
